Russell
Sage College is located
in Troy, NY on ten acres in a historic downtown area, and is
surrounded by neighborhoods of stately Victorian
brownstones.
Within the region, Troy is rapidly becoming the
focal point for the fine arts. As an integral part
of the growing artistic community, Sage's Troy
campus is home to the New York State Theatre
Institute (NYSTI), where young people flock from
as far away as Germany. In addition, we are within
walking distance of the Troy Savings Bank Music
Hall, world-renowned for its
superb acoustics, the Rensselaer County Historical
Society and the Rensselaer County Center for the
Arts, which serves the entire Capital Region.
Julia
Howard Bush Memorial Center (Main Keynotes,
Panels...)
Orginally built in 1835 as the
First Presbyterian Church of Troy, it was acquired
by the College in 1975. It is named for Julia
Howard Bush, a trustee of Russell Sage College and
a long-time member of the church.
The building is used for
special occasions as well as a meeting place for
student clubs and organizations. The ceiling in
Bush Memorial is actually
flat, but gives the appearance of being
dome-shaped. Bush is also noted for its beautiful
stained glass windows; three
of which are Tiffany Stained Glass. Recent
renovations to Bush Memorial includes new front
steps, added handicap accessibility, new sound
system, new stage, electronic projection,
reinforced roof and new seating.
