Do students attend the AERO conference?
Do they ever!
In fact, this year's conference will bring an
estimated 75-100
students from around North America and the
World!
Note: While there are a large
number of students under the age of 12 and above
the age of 18 that attend, this information speaks
specifically to the 12-18 year old demographic.
Also, while we use the word student, we are
speaking to everyone in the demographic previously
mentioned (i.e. homeschoolers, unschoolers).

We
strongly encourage students and especially groups
to attend the 2008 AERO conference. Towards
that end, we have financial assistance and great
group rates available for those that want to
attend. We will not turn any student
(anyone for that matter) based solely on financial
reasons. If our returning student and school
group attendees are any indication, the conference
may actually be even more enjoyable to teenagers
(which considering the program is hard to
believe)!
If you are a student and are
interesting in joining the 2008 student events
organizing committee, e-mail
isaacgraves@gmail.com and you will be added to
the committee.
What will students do at the
AERO conference?
Students will participate mostly in
the same way that non-students participate.
The open workshop space allows for students to
pre-schedule (or schedule on the spot) workshops,
presentations, games, events, music jams, and
anything imaginable. We also scheduled a
number of events with students specifically in
mind.

A dance will take place and
will feature the the D.J. talents of Funk Master
Mech. For those that were not in
attendance at the 2007 AERO conference, you
missed an amazing performance, but luckily he's back and better than ever.
Our talent show and open mic has
also become a favorite pastime for our student
attendees as it has taken on a life of its own
with dozens of musical performances, stand-up
comedy routines, literature readings among many
others. We have a professional sound system
and gorgeous performance space that has played
host to a number of professional musicians,
well-known poets,
and gorgeous weddings. So bring your talents, sit back, and enjoy the show!
Other highlights include: The Evening Lounge (Russell Sage
College's Student Center open late), keynote panel
discussion featuring students, benefit
auction (always a good time), large outdoor space
for Ultimate Frisbee and any activities you can
think of, buildings (incl. those with the big
movie screen) that can be left open as late as
wanted, open campus, and of course, I Love NY and
Gino's pizzerias only three blocks away and open until
4am!
